Fulbright Association Conference, Washington D.C.
The 30th Anniversary Conference of the Fulbright Alumni Association on “People and the Planet” was held in Washington D.C. during November 1 - 4, 2007. Over 300 Fulbright alumni from 26 countries participated in the conference. The theme of the conference reflected the “soft power” and deep cultural and educational understanding that the Fulbright program has been so successful in promoting world-wide. The 14 members’ delegation from Pakistan was truly national and multi-disciplinary, with representatives from all the four provinces with diverse and distinguished academic backgrounds. The Pakistani delegation was particularly fortunate as its members got a rare opportunity of visiting the U.S. Congress, witnessing voting on a Bill in the House under session. The members also met with Congressman Mr. John Sarbanes. The conversation with the Congressman and the trip to the Capitol Hill was an educational and inspirational experience for the Pakistani delegates.
