3RD FULBRIGHT ALUMNI CONFERENCE 2006, MARGALLA HOTEL, ISLAMABAD
USEFP hosted the 3rd Annual Fulbright Alumni Conference in Islamabad from April 28-29, 2006. Originally the University of Peshawar had graciously agreed to host the conference. For security reasons, the conference took place in the Margalla Hotel, Islamabad. The driving force behind the conference was Fulbright Pakistanís distinguished alumnus Dr. Syed Hamidullah. Professor of Earth and environmental Sciences and former Director of the Center for Excellence in Geology at the University of Peshawar. Dr. Hamidullah tragically lost his life along with six Army personnel in a helicopter crash on October 16, 2005. He was engaged in relief work and in preparations for undertaking a geological survey of the area damaged by the earthquake of October 8. It was a pleasure to have Dr. Hamidullahís family attend the alumni conference.
Fifty-three alumni from all over Pakistan, including Lahore, Peshawar, D.I. Khan, Faisalabad, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, Karachi, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur, Hyderabad, and Jamshoro attended. Also attending were a group of foreign Fulbright Scholars from Sri Lanka, Nepal and India.
